Zune 3.0 released

Microsoft's mp3 player Zune just got updated to version 3.0. At the same time all Zune users get wifi access at 9,800 McDonald's restaurants.

Problems installing the new Zune 2.0 software?

Microsoft released some new Zunes the 13/11. With the new Zunes a new version of the Zune software came out. I had problems updating with my Zune software since Help -> "Check for updates" just told me that I was running the latest version and the Zune program from zune.net gave me some kind of installation error.

The way I fixed this was doing two things.

I ran windows updates and installed the latest Windows patches.
I downloaded, unpacked and installed http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/5/7/4578afd6-a0b6-4724-89e5-ba9395ea6a6d/ZunePackage.exe

That worked for me. I am now running the latest Zune software on my Swedish Windows XP SP2 and my Zune is running the latest firmware.

Sync Google Video/YouTube to your Zune

ZuneMyTube (ZuneIEPlugin) is a nice plugin that downloads movies from YouTube or Google video and syncronizes it over to your Zune. Just install ZuneIEPlugin on your windows pc. After you have installed it go to one of the above sites, start the movie and then click on the zune icon up to the right (if you cant find it just click on the arrows up to the right). It will take some minutes because the movie has to be downloaded again.

The files will be located under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Videos\<Video Site>

How to install Zune on Windows Vista or Non english os

Follow Modaco's instruction for use with Windows Vista: http://www.modaco.com/zunevista

To use with Windows XP and non english OS version do the same thing except you need to add two groups in Windows. One called "users" and one called "interactive". Then the installation goes through.

I don't know if you have to upgrade to Windows Mediaplayer in english and Internet Explorer in english but if you still got problem try to upgrade to latest Media Player and IE7 in english.

Thx to my very good friend Mo I got the Zune today! Express delivery from the States! I wonder if I'm the first one who got a Zune in Sweden?

Playing arround with it.. adding media libs.. One thing to note, during the installation you are asked for a "zune Tag". This is not the number on your box (someone else tried that because it was taken already hehe). "Zune Tag" is something you choose by yourself! If you got an xbox live account you can choose that name if not just create something cool!
