Microsoft's mp3 player Zune just got updated to version 3.0. At the same time all Zune users get wifi access at 9,800 McDonald's restaurants.

Problems installing the new Zune 2.0 software?

Microsoft released some new Zunes the 13/11. With the new Zunes a new version of the Zune software came out. I had problems updating with my Zune software since Help -> "Check for updates" just told me that I was running the latest version and the Zune program from zune.net gave me some kind of installation error.

The way I fixed this was doing two things.

I ran windows updates and installed the latest Windows patches.
I downloaded, unpacked and installed http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/5/7/4578afd6-a0b6-4724-89e5-ba9395ea6a6d/ZunePackage.exe

That worked for me. I am now running the latest Zune software on my Swedish Windows XP SP2 and my Zune is running the latest firmware.

Engadget reports that Firmware v.2.00 has just been released for PlayStation 3. Just update from the menu inside the PS3 as usual.

Got my NAS. Tried it and here is the result:

Installed one new (unformated) 500 gig SATA drive which was really easy. Installed Netgear's software on my computer and that worked but with some small problems. One negativ thing was that it tells you to search for updates before you install which is good BUT then is couldn't read from Netgear which is not good. Tried twice and on another computer. Same result. Easy fixed by installing the updated software (you need a fresh install as you can't update). When the installation is finnish you set the disc up the way you want it. In my case I just created a 500 gig disk and attached it. Went very fast. Then it mapped automaticly.

So,

Easy install
Fast format
Works in Vista (with the new updated software)
Speed is really good, like moving from one computer to another (I use gigabit)

The sound from the box is a little to high (but it's ok since you can put it wherever you want)
Software dosn't auto update and bugs when is searches for updates
You need Netgear's software on all computes that is going to access the disc (why not just use samba? and a webif for settings?)
You need DHCP (no static IP)

Makes the job!
Easy way to add more discs! When my discs are full I might buy another one!

Sony Playstion 3 release party

Sony Playstation 3 has been released 23/3 2007. Nordic Film had a big release party at Nordic Light Hotel in Stockholm, Sweden. Mats, Michael and I attended.

Gears of War - I played it for one hour on my xbox360 and then everything just freezed. Had to switch the box off. Well, a part from that it rox!

Sync Google Video/YouTube to your Zune

ZuneMyTube (ZuneIEPlugin) is a nice plugin that downloads movies from YouTube or Google video and syncronizes it over to your Zune. Just install ZuneIEPlugin on your windows pc. After you have installed it go to one of the above sites, start the movie and then click on the zune icon up to the right (if you cant find it just click on the arrows up to the right). It will take some minutes because the movie has to be downloaded again.

The files will be located under C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Videos\<Video Site>
